Art For Blue Rooms
Looking for a piece of art to finish off a blue room? Here are my top tips and ideas that will help you find that perfect piece of wall art.
When it comes to decorating a room in your house, it is often the case that the wall art is last to be chosen. Not many of my clients buy a piece of my art and design a room around it (but if you do - there's no problem with that either!). The great thing about finding a piece of wall art to finish off a room is that not only can it be a focal point, but the colours in the art can tie in all the colours in the room, making it one cohesive space.
What works well with a blue room?
If we go back to the colour wheel, blue sits on the COOL side of colours. You can choose to compliment your blue room with harmonious colours (which are colours that sit either side of blue) or complimentary colours (which are colours that are complete opposites). Alternatively, you can go for more neutral colours in a wall art such as brown which balances out the vibrancy of blue.

If you are looking for harmonious colours to create more of monochrome feel, I would be choosing wall art that had tones of blue, violet and green. For a contrasting look in a blue room, I'd be looking for art that has tones of orange, pink, red and yellow.
Be bold though - you don't have to stick to colour theory when choosing your wall art. This is just a guide to get you started. I also love gold and blue together, as well as a bit of white to balance it all out.
Here are some examples of wall art on blue walls to give you an idea of what to choose!
Harmonious Colours (Similar colours and tones to the decor)
Contrasting Colours (Opposite colours and tones to the decor)
Neutral Colours (Earthy colours - browns, beige)
