Selling Prints Unframed

Many artists sell their prints online unframed - and for good reason! Sending them rolled is the safest way to post, keeping your artwork perfectly protected on its journey to you. It also means you can choose a frame that suits your own space and style, making the piece feel even more personal. Plus, it avoids the risk of frames or glass being damaged in transit.

Print Sizes

A4 = 21 x 29.7 CM | 8.3 x 11.7 INCH

A3 = 29.7 x 42 CM | 11.7 x 16.5 INCH

A2 = 42 x 59.4 CM | 16.5 x 23.4 INCH

There are no truly universal print sizes, as different countries use their own standards. Some prints are made in A sizes, while others follow traditional inch measurements. Each print includes a border, so you’ll have plenty of flexibility to trim or frame it neatly, wherever you are in the world. For convenience, several frames are linked below for both UK and USA customers, that fit these prints perfectly without any trimming.

How To Choose A Print Size

The general rule of thumb is that a print or piece of art should be about 2/3rds the width of the piece of furniture you intend to hang it above.

A large piece of art can be hung as a standalone print, but you could also combine smaller prints to create a duo, trio or gallery wall.

It's also important to remember that a frame can add 5-15cm onto the size of the print. You can easily buy an A4 print that, with a mount included, could be framed at an A3 size.

Finding A Frame

UK 🇬🇧

Here is a list of suggested frames. These links are provided for convenience and inspiration only, with no affiliation, to help you find frames that fit your prints perfectly. Some frames come with a mount while others do not. A mount creates a space between the print and the frame, which can really enhance the overall look and make the artwork stand out beautifully.

A2 Print Sizes

Finding frames that fit A2 prints can be more limited, so it can be helpful to also look for frames that fit a 16 x 20 inch print. Choosing a frame in this size may cover a very small portion of the print behind the mount, but with the 0.5 cm border included, almost none of the actual artwork is affected.

USA 🇺🇸

'A' sizes aren’t standard in the USA, but stores like Target sell inch-sized frames that can work if a little trimming is okay. There are also options available on Amazon, which are listed below. Another option is to take a print to a professional framer and have a custom mat made to fit a standard frame size from stores such as Target.
