A lot of equestrian art focuses on the polished elegance of dressage—horses and riders turned out for competition, showcasing the end result of years of training. Ballet is a graceful piece that captures the quiet power and elegance of dressage. The name came about during the live creation of the drawing—someone passing by stopped to watch, and before the rest of the horse had taken shape, he pointed at the leg and said it looked like a ballerina. That little moment stuck with me.

There’s a real sense of rhythm in this one—you can almost feel the horse moving, light on its feet but full of strength. It’s that beautiful balance between power and precision that makes dressage feel a bit like a dance, and I wanted to freeze that feeling on paper.

So many of us remember that feeling, where the world seems silent except for the clip clop of the horse's hooves. We as riders get to appreciate parts of the countryside no one else can, all from the back of these powerful and gentle beasts.
