This piece was one of those moments for me. Blending realism with abstract elements for the first time, I stepped outside my comfort zone—just like the horse in mid-air, pushing forward with confidence. The softened edges and dynamic strokes create a sense of movement, reflecting the feeling of leaping into something new, taking a chance, and trusting the journey ahead.

Ballet is a graceful piece that captures the quiet power and elegance of dressage. The name came about during the live creation of the drawing—someone passing by stopped to watch, and before the rest of the horse had taken shape, he pointed at the leg and said it looked like a ballerina. That little moment stuck with me.

There’s a real sense of rhythm in this one—you can almost feel the horse moving, light on its feet but full of strength. It’s that beautiful balance between power and precision that makes dressage feel a bit like a dance, and I wanted to freeze that feeling on paper.

The original artwork titled 'The Art Of Training' is a piece paying homage to the training side of dressage, where the real work happens. So much artwork focusses on the polished aspect of dressage - where the horse and rider are at a competition, ready to show off what they've been doing, but in this piece I wanted to focus on the training at home, where hours of work are put in and relationships are created between horse and rider.
